I wrote a poem (but it's for Syren's epic - that's all. Really!)
Does this make me an emo teen?

You don't have to read on - It's at your own risk I tell you.

Certainty )

Now go poke Syren to finish her epic. As her beta I can tell you - it's gonna be brilliant!

I has a data
Also an internet withdrawl.  Waaaaants my internet goodies.
Never mind.  The busyness is worth it if the data will behave.  Was rather tense on Friday as we tweaked and plotted the raw numbers.  Then it was a lovely line and there were high fives all round!

Huzzah! etc.

Miss y'all!

So, It's progressing
I've weighed hundreds of bottles.  Hundreds of bottles wit h soil in, and now I'm weighing hundreds of soil bits so I can boil em in Acid (and not low grade acid at that - yay bonekickers - when are you back?).  The things I do for science!

Fireworks last weekend in Kent (see not all work).  It was the munchkins birthday so I got to eat posh and drink half a bottle of rather expensive wine, which I personally found totally worth the cost, but a certain anonymous poster may wish to disagree - I did rather steamroller him into it.  Mmm Tasty.

've been rather out of the loop - but caught in the paper at the weekend that the ruddy Calfornians couldn't even kick out proposition 8.  C'mon people!  Excuse me while I go find somewhere to rant appropriately.

Here's hoping you're all well and surviving my absence.  Will pop in if poss

To follow on from the "snowing" exclamation: It's Pitched!
Only here at the top of the hill though - the rest of the county is merely frosty.
For some reason we've got a micro climate up here that lets us keep snow (we're only about 10 m above the rest of the world for pitys sake!).

It's great.
It is however also treacherous, cos it started snowing after maintenance had gone home, so no-one's gritted.  The slush that froze my feet on the walkways yesterday has set into ice (roads as well).

Should be fun.

But i care not - cos there is snow!  Weeeeeeeeeeee!

(in other news I'm still busy - but snow makes things better)

I can do stuff (I put in a new phone and re-ordered the TV/DVD wiring)
So yeah!  Woo.  etc.
Our old landline phone was well dodgy - with crackly ness and inability to roam (for all it was a hand held roaming phone) and only lasted off the base unit for 20 mins (which as a woman is not long enough for any kind of decent conversation!).

So I got another one, as you do.

But when I pulled the old wire out of the wall connector, the new one refused to connect in the same hole, and when I tried to stick the old one back in again that also returned unto me a "you can not haz".

Woe etc.

After toddling off to homebase and purchasing a new wall socket - pulling out the TV unit (cos of course all the wiring is in the most inaccassible corner ever!) shrieking in horror at all the dust bunnies and doing a removal-of-everythingOMG! clean I unscrewed the wall socket  to discover years of grime had gumbed it all up.  To save plastic (always the treehugging bunny I am) I scrattled around in the socket to get the connectors shiney again and lo and behold... le phone she works!  Woo! Huzzah etc.

I can haz phone!
Plus after all that effort sorting out the TV wires etc everything is connected more sensibly now round the back.

(I cycled in here as well)

Someone rang my phone at 5.26 am.
Why would they do that?
I wasn't in my dreams cos though I got there too late to pick up, I did a 1471 and there was an actual call.  Number not retrievable.

Who does that?
I was sleeping, people!

Gorram it!
2 days worth of Maths... and the machine says - I can't produce a number that low.  You have to have this number or nothing.

2 days!  I had just discovered that my number was 0.04%.  (that's CO2 in the atmosphere - usually 0.03) and I asked the machine nicely if I could have that in a leetle sealed box so that nice things could happen.  But the machine only goes down to 1%.  No lower.

SO WHAT WAS THE POINT OF DOING THE MATHS IN THE FIRST PLACE???!!!!

I need a "writing inanity icon"
So I've been making Syren laugh all morning with this and thought I would share.

I travel a lot.  Not far, usually journeys of 1-2 hrs.  Usually trains (though this time it was plane to Ireland - so un ecological!).  I've got into the habit of sketching out random bits of fic/oneshots to prevent boredom on the journey.  i.e. that's a  nice field... I wonder if character A ever considered ploughing... scribble scribble.  Most of my train timetables have little notes in the back from this.  It passes the time ok?

Anyway.  I wasn't planning to plot anything on the way over to Ireland, I had a paper to read etc.  But in the queue for boarding I got inspiration so as soon as I managed to find a seat I grabbed a pen and began making busy on the back of the sheet I'd printed the bus timetable on (not really relevant - it was just in my pocket).

Let me explain here... I was sat next to a lovely elderly couple, she smiled nicely at me as I plonked down and he was asudiously staring out of the window sucking on one of many fishermans friends.  She continued to smile at me while I poked and prodded at the fountain pen.  The smile slipped a bit as I flicked it all over the place trying to get ink to flow, ignoring the safety anouncements as I muttered about evil implements preventing the creative flow.

So I settled in to scribbling.  Scribble scribble.  scribble.  er.  quick glance at little old lady... cross out scribble and insert code words for flirting.  scribble scribble.  Code words for UST.  scribble scribble, glance at little old lady, cross out scribble, replace with euphanism.

See little old lady - see the creative process.  Watch as I write long flowing sentences on the nice white back of this piece of paper.  Watch as the writing gets smaller and more bullet points only as I reach the bottom of the page.  Watch me turn the page over and attempt to keep going in the gaps left by the bus timetable on the other side.  "Arrives Luton Airport 1306 - Snow falling? How to shelter - observed/overlooked?"

She did look over from time to time - but luckily my writing is attrocious and most of what she saw was likely  "but it will be cold.. .how can she emote through woolies?"

Ireland - it be very rural
First thoughts were mainly of how Dublin looks a bit crappy when you leave it on a train.  But most cities can be like that, so I bear it no malice.  Plus everyone looks really Irish! (O RLY? YA RLY!  NO WAI !).  I told my friend this, in amongst texts revealing that yes the plane had landed and I was making my way to the train station as fast as possible and could she stop panicing now?  She didn't think much of my profound statement about the Irishness of the people who live in Ireland.  Fewl.  Also everyone on the radio was Terry Wogan.  I am such a bad traveller.

The priest in full robes on the train kept me occupied for a good while (Priest! Onna train!  Not as good as "JOAN COLLINS!" but close.  Had to text everyone bout it), but eventually the all encompassing Ruralness of Ireland outside Dublin started to wear me down.  The priest began to read his bible and I turned to the additional bits that come with the paper.  Today it was a small booklet on Desire (part of their "Love and Sex Series" - don't blame me!  It's the Independent and if they think I should know about that... then I accept their bidding).  I hid it in the sports section whilst reading so the priest couldn't see.

Eventually everyone got off except me... longest train journey eva.

ok - I cut it, for the sake of your friends pages... Read on for bouncing doggies and other blatherings of an Oirish nature... )
Ireland rocks you guys! - for all it's rurality.

Went to see "the Duchess" last night
Let me start by enthusing about the costumes... Kiera rocks some amazing hats!  And the fox dress?  mmm, waaaaant.
Was good.  Especially R.. Fiennes being so cold and unemotional.  I was surprised at how good it was.

Got a trailer for something terrible with Richard Gere in it (no - he now old, no sex appeal thanx - not that he ever had any for me) and something hysterically funny with Colin Firth and Kristan Scott Thomas.  Also something I forget.  One outa three aint bad.  Will be watching 'Easy Virtue' methinks (plus it's a Noel Coward play - how fun is that?!!).

(p.s. I am off to ireland today!  Woooo!)

Hurrah - have survived the viral stage
Nose now flowing with bacterial splooge, but at least my head is mostly my own again.
*cough cough*

I must have been rough yesterday, I actually sat down and watched CSI:Miami from a sense of nostalgia.  I just wanted the corny lines and the lovely wide panning shots.  Have no idea what actually happened.
Was rather distracted by the fact that Horatio is in "An Officer and A Gentleman" as a well weedy dropout.  It made me happy to see him attempting to live the lie of a hard dude, knowing Richard Gere could kick his ass.  Poor Horatio.

Plz to stop crapping on my head fate.

Reckon I must have picked up something in the dive we were dancing in on Friday night.  3 day incubation sounds about right.  Raging sore throat, minor sniffles and the occasional cough.

List of things done this weekend: made lasagne.
It's not a long list.  Ah well.  Was the first time I managed to make an eatable, tasty lasagne!  I'm rather proud.  Next time I must have someone over to share in my experience, cos I spent most of Sunday eating it and there are still leftovers in the freezer.

Also washed lots of bedding (this is a good thing... especially with a still slightly sore shoulder, stripping beds is difficult).

Must add that finally watched all of "officer n Gentleman".   Main comment - desperately needed an edit.  Should have been much better.  Why is it supposedly such a "great chick flick"?  It's rather annoying really.  Shame.  Film watching stats were improved by "National Treasure" on BBC3 last night.  Ahahahahahahahaha.  etc.  Poor Nick Cage, another terrible film for his CV.  Delicious.

How the bed crisis was solved.
That darn bed crept into my writings about 6 times in the end.  People sat on it, pulled things out from under it, got up from sitting on it (even though the fact they'd sat on it earlier had been deleted).

In the end there was nothing to do but indulge it and it's ruffled sheets.  [info]sweetsyren 's fault completely.  Bad poetry was written.  Terrible cringeworthy embarrassingly emo bad poetry.  I died of shame, she died of laughing, and I think the ruddy thing will finally leave me alone.

I hope anyway.  Blasted persistant bed.

OMG I want one of these
I've been good and managed not to covert all the things I can't have cos I'm a skint student... But this just pushed the balance too far.  I want one and I want it now! (I can wait as far as the weekend, but that's it).

In other news - am a leetle high this week... must be the aclimation in autumn etc.  Keep having to remind myself to eat...
